Patrick Wilson was 21 when he killed 44-year-old Keith Troup at a Chevron gas station on Old National Highway in College Park on Dec. 12, 2015, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Dontaye Carter said.
Troup suffered 14 gunshot wounds to his arms, chest and back. Detectives located 22 shell casings at the scene, Carter said.
Witnesses said Wilson took off his hoodie during the shooting, which is how he was identified by police.
When arrested days later, Wilson had an AK-47, Carter said.
Wilson told police he and Troup had a fight more than a week before the shooting and then “blacked out” on the day Troup was killed.
In that same police interview, Carter said, Wilson also said he removed his hoodie during the shooting because, “I wanted to make sure he knew who shot him.”
A judge sentenced Wilson to life in prison plus 15 years, without the possibility of parole, Carter said.
