Two men were arrested just hours after they allegedly shot and killed a motel maintenance worker during a dispute, Douglas County Sheriff Tim Pounds said in a news conference Thursday.
Thomas Edward Ball Jr., 42, was shot multiple times Tuesday morning after an altercation with the men at the Efficiency Lodge on Fairburn Road, Pounds said.
The suspects were identified as Kevin James Flamer, 20, and Jeffery Lamar Kemp, 21, both of Douglasville, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Ball allegedly told the men to slow down while they were driving through the motel parking lot, which started a verbal dispute. They left temporarily, but came back and continued the dispute with Ball and his girlfriend, according to Pounds. Then they left and came back a third time. That’s when the fatal shooting took place, Pounds said.
Authorities did not say which suspect they believe shot Ball.
Warrants were issued for the two men and they were arrested at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Pounds said.
The sheriff was at the arrest scene and handcuffed one of the suspects himself. He said he got involved in the case because he wanted to send a message.
“You can’t expect to come here and commit these foolish crimes and expect us to lay down and not investigate,” Pounds said.
The investigation is ongoing.
