Authorities in Hall County are searching for a man and a woman accused of shooting at two Gainesville police officers, who were injured in the overnight altercation.

Police are searching for Marcos Garcia Tovar, 20, and Alondra Rodriguez, 20, according to a news release from Gainesville police.

Sgt. Kevin Holbrook, spokesman for Gainesville police, said Saturday the couple opened fire on the officers, who responded to a 911 call concerning a domestic dispute.

Both suspects have active warrants for aggravated assault on a peace officer, police said. They should be considered armed and dangerous.

The officers, who were not immediately identified, were treated at a hospital and released. Holbrook said the officers were hurt during the altercation but were not shot.

The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. at a Burger King on Athens Street, police said in a news release.

Officers responded to reports of a man dragging a woman, Holbrook said. When the officers arrived at the scene, the woman pulled a gun.

Tovar and Rodriguez allegedly shot at the officers, who returned fire. Tovar and Rodriguez ran from the scene on foot.

In a Facebook post, police described the male suspect as having “longer hair, wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.”

Multiple agencies are engaged in the manhunt. Holbrook said the case remains under investigation by his department and the GBI.
