A Canton man walking across a busy street was struck by an SUV and killed Wednesday night, police said.

The 52-year-old, who has not been identified, was hit as he crossed Riverstone Parkway about 7:45 p.m., Canton police spokesman Officer Pacer Cordry said.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was a 64-year-old Canton woman, police said. Her name was not released.

The stretch of road where the pedestrian was hit does not have a crosswalk, authorities said.

The fatal crash remains under investigation and charges against the driver are pending.
