A father of two who was shot and killed outside a southwest Atlanta barbershop Wednesday afternoon survived a 2017 robbery in which he was shot five times, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Aaron Jerrod Dumas, 32, was shot as he got out of his SUV in the 500 block of Joseph Lowery Boulevard shortly after 5:30 p.m., Atlanta police said.
Officers arrived to find Dumas outside the business with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Witnesses at the scene told investigators the suspect may have fled in a red Dodge Charger with a black stripe on the hood. As of Thursday evening, no one had been charged in the fatal shooting.
A GoFundMe set up to raise money for Dumas' family described him as a loving husband and father. So far, the page has raised nearly $2,000 of its $10,000 goal.

Dumas’ mother told Channel 2 she was so grateful when her son survived the 2017 robbery attempt that nearly took his life. Now she must plan his funeral.
“Everybody says, ‘How come you’re so calm?’” Cynthia Dumas told the news station. “It’s not that I’m so calm, but I serve a great God. I’m hurting, but at the same time I know God had a plan for him.”
Investigators are still working to determine what led to Wednesday’s shooting, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call Atlanta police.
