A McDonough man pleaded guilty to molesting a teenage girl and possessing child pornography, The Henry County District Attorney’s office said.
Richard Fisher Hayes, 48, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated child molestation, one county of child molestation and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of children, Henry district attorney spokeswoman Megan Matteucci said in a news release.

Hays was sentenced to life with 20 years to serve on the child molestation charge and 50 years with 20 to serve in the child pornography case, Matteucci said. He must also register as a sex offender.
“The families of these victims are pleased with the resolution of this case,” District Attorney Darius Pattillo said in a statement. “This man is a sexual predator who targeted children and our community is safer with him in prison.”
Authorities say in August 2016, Hayes performed oral sex on the girl and touched her genitals.
Henry County police arrested Hayes, then an IT specialist who worked from home, as he was downloading hundreds of child sex images to his computer, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
The girl, who was 15 at the time, told her parents about the sexual assault during a family visit to Tybee Island, Channel 2 Action News reported. The girl’s parents were worried when her behavior changed and asked her what happened.
