Police are investigating a shooting that left a 22-year-old dead Tuesday morning at an apartment complex near Austell.

Cobb County police were called to the Alta Mill apartments on Anderson Mill Road near the East-West Connector about 1 a.m. after receiving a call about a person shot, police spokeswoman Officer Sydney Melton said.

They arrived to find Daquan Murphy of Austell with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Murphy was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, police said. It’s unclear what led to the fatal shooting or if investigators have any suspects in Murphy’s death.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Cobb County police at 770-499-3945.
