A man was killed and a bystander was injured in a shooting early Friday in northwest Atlanta.

The man was found dead inside a vehicle on Proctor Street just after midnight, according to Atlanta police. While he has not been identified, investigators at the scene told Channel 2 Action News the victim is between 25 and 30 years old.

As many as 20 rounds were fired during the shooting, the news station reported. Police said one of the rounds hit a woman in her 30s who was standing down the street. She was shot in her buttocks.

“The investigation revealed that the deceased victim was involved in a dispute with two males when someone started shooting at the vehicle,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said in a statement. “Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting and locate the suspect.”

The woman was stable when she was taken to a hospital, he said.

The incident remains under investigation.
