A woman and her daughter were kidnapped from their Kennesaw home and were held hostage inside a Jasper man’s home, roughly 40 miles from where they live, Cobb County police said in a news release Monday.

Daniel Robert Green, 34, faces two counts of kidnapping, one count of burglary and one count of cruelty to children in the Sunday night kidnapping, Cobb County police Sgt. Wayne Delk said.

“Our understanding at this point is that the suspect is a former boyfriend of the victim,” Delk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Warrants obtained by The AJC allege Green broke open the door to 31-year-old Tiffany Donnelly’s Shiloh Ridge Run home and interrupted her call to 911. The warrants do not indicate what occurred leading up to the alleged burglary.

Police arrived and found the door forced open and the broken phone used to make the 911 call.

“There were other signs of a possible struggle and subsequent kidnapping,” Delk said.

The investigation led police to Pickens County where they rescued Donnelly and her 5-year-old daughter. The two were unharmed, Delk said.

Green remains in the Cobb County jail without bond.

Jasper is approximately 60 miles north of Atlanta.
