UPDATED: The man killed has been identified by the medical examiner as Kaishaun Burnstine.

Hours after residents in one northwest Atlanta neighborhood heard gunshots, police discovered a man shot to death in the driveway of an abandoned home early Wednesday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

A neighbor told police he spotted the victim’s body in the driveway about 5 a.m. but thought the man was passed out drunk. The neighbor didn’t call 911 until he walked over and saw the man had been shot.

Police responded to the call about 6:50 a.m. in the 400 block of Cairo Street, Atlanta police Officer Kim Jones said.

“Upon arrival, they found an unidentified male deceased in the driveway from gunshot wounds,” Jones said.

Neighbors told police they heard multiple gunshots about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, but no one bothered to call 911 because gunshots are frequent occurrences in the area.

An 81-year-old woman was killed by a stray bullet while she was playing cards on her front porch last July.

“Just one year ago, I was right up the street … just three doors over,” Strong said.

In October, a Fulton County grand jury indicted two men charged in the woman’s shooting death.

The latest shooting remains under investigation.
