A man is behind bars after traveling nearly 300 miles to allegedly have sex with a 13-year-old Marietta boy he met online, authorities said.

Andrew Jordan Pendleton, 23, of Rincon, was arrested last month after showing up at the teenager’s driveway, arrest warrants allege. According to the court records, Pendleton began communicating with the teen in early March, sending lewd images of himself and others.

With the permission of the teen’s parents, a Marietta detective posed as the boy online, and Pendleton eventually agreed to travel to Cobb County to meet him for sex, authorities said.

The drive from Pendleton’s Effingham County home to the child’s house where he was arrested takes about four hours. He had two cellphones with him when he arrived at the home and both were collected as evidence and searched following the man’s arrest. One of the videos on his phone included a recorded conversation that showed Pendleton engaged in virtual sex acts with the child over video chat, according to his arrest warrant.

He also allegedly had a photo of a naked child who appeared to be about 5 years old, authorities said.

Pendleton faces one count each of aggravated child molestation, using a computer to seduce or entice a child and using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for a visual medium, online records show. He also faces a misdemeanor count of distributing obscene materials to minors and three felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Pendleton remains held without bond at the Cobb County Jail, where he has been since his March 20 arrest, records show.
