DeKalb County police have charged a 22-year-old in connection with a drive-by shooting that left one man dead and another injured Monday evening outside a home near Stone Mountain.

Carey Darnell Jackson III of Lithonia, was arrested Tuesday evening, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said.

According to police, the two victims were standing outside a home on Needle Rock Drive about 11:45 p.m. when Jackson drove up and shot them before speeding off.

One of the men, 20-year-old Arnold Leslie III, of Snellville, later died at the hospital The other suffered minor injuries in the shooting. His name was not released.

“It appears that the victims were outside the home when the suspects arrived and began shooting,” Vincent said in a statement.

Authorities believe the incident was the result of a dispute between Jackson and the victims that began earlier in the day. Detectives are still searching for a second suspect in the case.

Jackson was booked into the DeKalb County Jail shortly before 8 p.m. on one count of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of failure to appear in court, online records show.
