A Newnan man was arrested on accusations he’d been sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl for six years, officials confirmed Tuesday.

Derroll Allan Grant Jr. faces charges of rape, sexual battery, aggravated sodomy and three counts of child molestation, according to Newnan assistant city manager Hasco Craver.

The girl’s mother approached Newnan police Aug. 12, but investigators believe the abuse had been occurring over the course of six years, Craver said.

Newnan police are looking into whether there are other victims.

Grant remains in jail without bond.
