A shooting that left a man dead inside a DeKalb County apartment Sunday was apparently drug related, police said.

Officers were searching for the shooter Monday near the Park on East Ponce apartment complex in the 6400 block of Tree Mountain Parkway, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.

Neighbors who called police told investigators they heard gunfire Sunday.

When police arrived, they found 19-year-old Journey Jones in a bottom floor unit, according to Channel 2 Action News.

There were two dogs inside the unit who were later taken to a shelter, the television station reported.

No other details were released.
