A woman was rushed to a hospital in critical condition after a shooting Sunday night at a DeKalb County motel.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was found in the parking lot at the Americas Best Inn on Covington Highway when police arrived just after 9:30 p.m. The motel is located just off I-285.
She is expected to survive, and her name is not being released, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said Monday.
“The shooting does not appear to be random but the suspect and motive are unknown,” she said.
Investigators worked overnight to locate witnesses and review surveillance footage, Channel 2 Action News reported. Officers on scene told the news station that the woman was likely involved in a dispute before she was shot.
The shooting was the second of two incidents of gunfire DeKalb County police investigated Sunday. In the first, a man in his 50s became entangled in a domestic dispute and was killed about 5 a.m. at the Aspen Woods Apartments on Flat Shoals Road, police said.
