Authorities are searching for a Floyd County man they say exchanged gunfire with deputies attempting to arrest him at his father’s home.

Jeffrey Tyler Aycock, 28, should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. He was last seen Tuesday night driving a white Chevrolet Suburban with Georgia tag PVC3180, said Sgt. Chris Fincher, spokesman for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Aycock, who is believed to have ties to the Ghost Face Gangsters, was wanted on charges of probation violation and contempt of court.

“Officers have tried to serve warrants against him in the past, but he either runs away or he’s just elusive,” Fincher told AJC.com.

Deputies heard Aycock was at his father’s home on Sam Harris Road and made contact with him at the front door, Fincher said.

His father, 52-year-old Jeffrey Todd Aycock, allegedly stood between deputies and his son and prevented them from arresting him, authorities said. He was then arrested and charged with obstruction for allegedly helping his son get away.

“He was agitating the situation and wouldn’t let officers near his son,” Fincher said.

At some point, deputies noticed the son reach for a firearm and took cover, police said. He then allegedly started shooting, prompting deputies to return fire.

No one was injured in the shootout, but during the commotion, the 28-year-old managed to escape in an SUV.

He is wanted on four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, four counts of felony obstruction and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police say he has a history of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and obstruction.

Anyone who knows Aycock’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. Tips submitted to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page will be considered anonymous and kept confidential, authorities said.

Aycock has distinctive tattoos, including horns on his forehead, the numbers “1919” on his chin and a large symbol on his throat.
