A DeKalb County freshman is accused of shooting and killing a senior Thursday morning after a fight at their Stone Mountain high school the day before, according to school district officials.

The two were students at Stephenson High School, a spokeswoman for the DeKalb County School District said in a statement.

“A 12th-grade student at Stephenson High School was shot and killed by a ninth-grade student, also from Stephenson High School, at the ninth-grade student's home,” the spokeswoman said. “This follows an altercation that took place (Wednesday) in the bus lane at the school involving approximately four to five boys.”

DeKalb police spokesman J.D. Spencer told AJC.com a 15-year-old was arrested on a charge of murder in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Phildarious Parrish.

The shooting suspect’s name has not been released.

According to police, Parrish and two other students went to the home of the suspect.

“There was an altercation between the individuals and the suspect shot the victim,” Spencer said.

According to a DeKalb police report released Friday, Parrish and the two friends drove to the student’s home in the 6000 block of Robins Nest to fight. When they arrived, three men identified as the shooting suspect, his father and his brother ran inside to grab guns, the report said.

That’s when the 15-year-old allegedly fired two rounds at Parrish, striking him once in the chest.

The three got back into the Dodge Charger they arrived in and drove to the 500 block of Lakewater View, where DeKalb police officers found Parrish outside about noon. The 18-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

“The police department is urging anyone with information ... to call Crime Stoppers,” Spencer said.

Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by calling 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.

A crisis team was at Stephenson on Friday to provide support to students and staff, the school district said.
