A man was shot to death Wednesday at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex less than a mile from an elementary school.

He was found at the Greenbriar Apartment Complex with a gunshot wound to the head, Atlanta police spokesman James White confirmed to AJC.com.

The complex, which is located at 3000 Continental Colony Parkway, is about a 3-minute drive from Continental Colony Elementary School.

Homicide investigators were called to the scene about 10 a.m., White said. Police are still there trying to determine what led to the fatal shooting.
