A man arrested on misdemeanor charges was found dead in the Rockdale County jail Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Shali Tilson, 22, of Conyers, was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m. It is unclear what caused his death, the statement said.
Conyers police arrested him March 3 on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
It is the second jail death in Georgia this month.
Willie Whonya Lowery Jr. had been at the DeKalb County jail close to two months on robbery charges when he died in what authorities are calling a suicide attempt.
While Lowery’s family asked for the GBI to investigate the incident, it is unclear if the agency is looking into the death.
The Rockdale case has been turned over to the GBI, which will investigate and provide an autopsy, the sheriff’s office said.
No other details were released.
