A head-on crash near Norcross killed two people Friday evening, police confirm.

A little after 8:30 p.m., a vehicle traveling south on Singleton Road allegedly lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle head-on, Gwinnett County police said in a news release.

A third vehicle was damaged by debris from the impact, the release said. The exact location on Singleton Road was not provided.

Police said Gema Gallegos Lopez, 51, of Lilburn, died at the scene of the crash, and her husband, Jose Banuelos Elizondo, 51, died after being transported to an area hospital. They were both in the at-fault vehicle, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle hit head-on was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said speed is considered a factor in this incident, and an investigation is ongoing.
