Authorities are investigating a double homicide after the bodies of two teenagers were discovered at a South Fulton building Thursday, police said.

Officers were conducting a wellness check at a house in the 5200 block of Old Bill Cook Road when they spotted a body beside the building, South Fulton police said in a news release. The other teen’s body was found inside.

Neighbors told Channel 2 Action News the home has been used as a day care run by different businesses, but was abandoned three years ago. It has been a source of problems since, Nubia Moody said.

“We had reported a while back that there may be a tent city behind this building, like a place where people had seen possibly vagrants going back there,” she said.

Both teens appeared to have been shot to death, police told the news station from the scene. The identities of the two victims were also not released, pending the notification of their families.

Moody said she passes the building on her way to and from work. She wondered how long the bodies were there before anyone noticed them.

“This is literally in our backyard,” she told Channel 2. “Kids pass this building walking home from school. We're terrified.”

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact police at 470-809-7300.
