Wheels are turning in the case of a 24-year-old Cobb County man charged in the “execution-style murder” of his father.
A Nov. 29 hearing for Daniel Walden Attaway is scheduled, Mazi Mazloom, his attorney, told AJC.com on Tuesday.
The probable cause and bond hearing is “to try to get more (evidence) than what’s on the (arrest) warrant,” Mazloom said.
Attaway is being held without bond in the Cobb County Jail on felony murder and other charges. Bond could be set at the hearing.
MORE: Marietta man shot his father 'execution style,' warrant says
The suspect is charged in the death of Douglas Wayne Attaway, 59, a construction vice president.
Attaway shot his father “between his eyes” and “close to his forehead” in the basement of their house on Hardage Farm Drive in Marietta, according to the Cobb County arrest warrant.
Attaway initially called 911 and said he had just entered his home and found that his father had been shot and appeared dead, police said at the time. However, investigators developed “sufficient evidence” to charge Attaway, Marietta police Officer Chuck McPhilamy said.
“Said accused committed an execution style murder against said victim as he shot said victim between his eyes close to said victim's forehead,” the warrant read.
Attaway used a 9mm handgun, according to the warrant, and also shot his father in his right shoulder before firing the other shots.
Police have not released other details about the case.
