Since October, a former Fannin County commission chairman has been arrested twice on felony drug charges, with the most recent incident taking place Tuesday morning.

Bruce “Howie” Howell Porter, 50, is accused of having methamphetamine, heroin, Xanax, phentermine and marijuana on him between 7:47 and 9:30 a.m., according to arrest warrants obtained by AJC.com.

He was taken into custody at 101 Riverstone Vista, which is a multi-use building containing several medical offices and specialists. The warrants did not say where Porter specifically was at the location.

Deputies charged Porter with four drug-related felonies and a misdemeanor marijuana charge, according to the warrants. He remains in custody without bond.

McCaysville police previously arrested Porter on meth and firearm possession charges Oct. 7, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. That case is still pending.

No other information on his latest arrest has been released by authorities.
