A cellphone store employee was kicked hard enough during an armed robbery over the weekend that she went to the hospital, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The employee, Ariel Knox, told Channel 2 that two men barged into the Metro PCS store off Headland Drive in East Point on Saturday before it closed and held her and her manager at gunpoint.

She told the news station the two robbers pushed her manager to the ground. She also got on the floor, but she didn’t lie face-down.

“He (pulled his leg) all the way back and he kicked me,” she said. “And my whole body just turned around.”

She said the robbers began counting down and threatening to kill them if the manager didn’t give them the money and cellphones fast enough. Knox’s cellphone was among those stolen.

The gunmen left the scene in a silver car, but Knox said the store’s security cameras do not work, Channel 2 reported.

East Point police are investigating the incident, and AJC.com has reached out to the department for more information about the suspects.

This comes after a string of armed robberies at cellphone stores in Atlanta, Cobb County and East Point, which authorities in those jurisdictions believe are connected. This robbery has not been confirmed to be connected to those three, Channel 2 reported.
