A hit-and-run in Covington claimed the life of one woman and left another injured, police said.

The pedestrian incident happened Monday between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the intersection of West and Cannon streets, Covington police said in a news release.

It resulted in the death of Amy Barron, 39, of Social Circle, according to police. Masika Robinson, 36, was injured and taken to Piedmont Newton Hospital. Her condition was not provided.

Police don’t have a description of the vehicle and are asking the public for help. They are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest, but are not disclosing the amount.

Local businesses have been told to look out for any cars with front-end damage, police said.
