Sex offenders are not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of churches, schools, day cares or places where children often play, such as swimming pools or playgrounds.

A Cobb County man, who was convicted of sodomy in 2011, is accused of running the gamut with his living choice and faces nine felonies as a result, according to arrest warrants.

Sereco Ford, 39, is accused of signing a lease at the Efficiency Lodge at 500 Lorene Drive, which is located within 1,000 feet of two churches, a day care, a school, two playgrounds and two pools, authorities said.

He was previously registered as being homeless and living in a Buick Regal near the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Road, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office said in the warrants.

However, he’s accused of signing a lease at the motel Feb. 26 without telling authorities. The motel’s leasing office told deputies that Ford was at his room “almost every day,” the warrants said.

The Efficiency Lodge is located within 1,000 feet of these eight locations, leading to the felony charges:

• Strong Tower Sanctuary

• His Image Christian Church

• Princeton Academy

• Marietta Academy

• The playground at the Amber Grove and Olley Creek apartment complex

• The pool at the Amber Grove and Olley Creek apartment complex

• The playground at the Cobblestone Apartments

• The pool at the Cobblestone Apartments

Ford was arrested last Wednesday on eight counts of living at a restricted residence as a sex offender and one count of failing to update his address, Cobb County jail records show.

In addition to his sodomy conviction, Ford has been convicted of several crimes in Cobb County, leading to three prison sentences since 2011, according to Georgia Department of Corrections records. In total, he’s spent about four years behind bars.

His other convictions include counts of sexual battery, false imprisonment, perjury, influencing witnesses and failing to register as a sex offender, GDC records show.

Ford remains in custody without bond, according to jail records.
