Cobb man arrested on rape, child molestation charges

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man facing multiple sex charges, including child molestation.

Gabriel Alvarez, 32, of Acworth, faces charges of rape, sexual battery, child molestation, cruelty to children and aggravated assault, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Police tracked Alvarez to a gas station near Shiloh Road and Cherokee Street in Kennesaw about 4 p.m. Monday.

Alvarez tried to flee, but crashed his car into several police cruisers, according to the release. Police forcibly removed Alvarez from the car and arrested him.

Alvarez was in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
