Linda Schnall’s son is a retired Georgia State Patrol trooper. But he doesn’t think that’s why someone sprayed his 73-year-old mother’s house with gunfire Monday just before 10 p.m.

“I'm confident this was a random act of someone just targeting the wrong house,” Larry Schnall told Channel 2 Action News.

Linda Schnall’s home of 27 years on Jones Road in the Austell area now has bullet holes in the brick exterior and in some windows.

Police told Channel 2 there may have been two shooters, one in the lawn and perhaps another in the road.

About 20-30 shots were fired, Larry Schnall said. “There could be some (shell casings) in the grass that weren’t located.”

The episode was so stressful that it caused Linda Schnall to fall out of bed.

“She was startled so much, she tried to get out of bed, and the violent explosions caused her to lose her step and fall to the floor,” he said.

And Larry Schnall has a message for those who fired at the house.

“Just go away,” he said, “go away and follow the law.”
