A DeKalb County woman who said she intended to kill her cousin fired gunshots into a Coweta County house with two teenagers inside Wednesday night, officials said.

After she also tried to set the house on fire, she told deputies she practices witchcraft, Channel 2 Action News reported.

However, Lindsey Wells of Decatur had the wrong house.

It all began about 6 p.m. at a house on Corn Crib Drive, officials said. Resident Jenny King was at work while her children, ages 15 and 13, were at home.

The children saw a stranger, who turned out to be Wells, in the backyard, Channel 2 reported.

“The lady was looking through that window,” King said, “and they locked eyes, so they decided to hide and get my son and they hid behind one of these walls and she started shooting.”

King said Wells went from there to the side of the house to try to set it afire. However, the flames fizzled, but the house was still damaged.

Inside the house, King’s daughter called 911, and made sure Wells could see her on the phone.

When King got home, Wells was gone, Channel 2 reported. She had gone to a nearby Waffle House and called 911 to turn herself in.

Deputies said Wells told them she had been practicing witchcraft and wanted to kill her cousin.

She is in the Coweta County jail.

“I can’t comprehend it to be honest with you,” King said. “I’m still kind of in shock with all of it.”
