In one night, a man broke into at least 11 cars parked outside of restaurants in Gwinnett County, police said.

The incidents happened March 12 on Gwinnett Place Drive, Breckinridge Boulevard and Day Drive in unincorporated Duluth, police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

“The suspect would exit the rear driver’s side door and break into the victims’ cars by smashing a window,” she said.

The man got away with computers, backpacks, clothes, financial documents and other electronics, according to police.

Authorities don’t have a description of the man, who was captured on surveillance footage wearing a black hoodie, brown pants and black shoes. The vehicle in which he was riding is likely a newer model black Kia Optima with a paper registration plate.

“One of the most common factors in these thefts is that the stolen items were left in plain sight,” Pihera said. “We encourage all drivers to conceal any item of value in their trunks before they arrive at their intended destination.”
