Buckhead home invasion, robbery suspect arrested

Police arrested the man they believe is responsible for two home-invasion robberies and a pedestrian armed robbery in the Buckhead area.

Antwain Wolfork, 21, was arrested early Thursday, Atlanta police said. He was charged with one count of home invasion, first-degree burglary and first-degree burglary with intent to commit a felony, Fulton County sheriff’s spokesman Tracy Flanagan said.

Both home invasions took place Aug. 19, officials said. Police said a replica of an AK-47 assault rifle was used.

Wolfork also has holds from law-enforcement agencies in DeKalb County, Clayton County and Decatur.

In the 2900 block of Howell Mill Road, the homeowner told police she was in her bedroom about 11:30 a.m. when a man entered. The man ordered her to lie down and put her face in the pillow, police said. Then he asked her, “Where is your jewelry?” The man eventually left the home with jewelry worth $30,000-$40,000, police said, as well as other items.

“I was shaking, my hands started shaking like birds’ wings when they’re flying,” victim Barbara Lyles-Anderson told Channel 2 Action News about the incident. “And I’m surprised I didn’t take off.”

In the 1700 block of Defoor Avenue, a man entered while the homeowner was away, police said. He stole items including a birth certificate, passport, cash, jewelry and two televisions, according to police. Some of the incident was recorded on home-security video.

On Aug. 10, a pedestrian was robbed in the 2000 block of Spad Avenue, police said.

The victim said she was scouting for a photo shoot. She saw an older-model white Dodge Charger arrive, and a man left the car and began scouting the area with a camera as if he also was working on a photo job, police said.

The woman turned around and noticed the man with a gun pointed at her, police said. He told her to get on the ground and said, “If you scream, I will kill you.”

The man got the woman’s car keys from her purse and searched her car for items to steal, police said. Items stolen included iPads, an iPhone, digital cameras and a handgun.

Wolfork also is a suspect in an Aug. 3 shooting incident at a residence in Brookhaven, police there said.
