New details were released Friday in a deadly shooting of a Stone Mountain woman whose accused killer drove her body to the DeKalb County Jail last week.
The woman, identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office as 57-year-old Wanda Goins of Stone Mountain, was discovered dead in the front passenger seat of a sedan outside the jail last Friday. Her common-law husband, 62-year-old Rodney Bolden, drove there to turn himself in, police said.
Investigators believe Goins was shot at another location in the county, but Bolden did not say where, DeKalb police spokesman J.D. Spencer told AJC.com. Physical evidence suggests she was shot in the head while inside the car.
Bolden pulled up to the jail off Memorial Drive around 5:15 a.m. and approached the first officer he saw, which happened to be a Spalding County deputy arriving to pick up an inmate.
According to a police report obtained by AJC.com, Bolden told the deputy, “I need to turn myself in. I have a dead body in my car.”
The deputy detained the man until DeKalb County officers arrived.

He was arrested on a charge of murder. Bolden is being held without bond in the DeKalb County Jail.
