Freddy Pouerie, 32, was arrested at his job about 11 p.m. Thursday on charges of armed robbery and murder, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Friday in a Facebook post.
About 11 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were called to a convenience store next to a Chevron in the 1800 block of Lee Road. Investigators learned Community Coffee manager Carl Rupnow was fatally shot during an armed robbery.
At the time of his death, he was training a new employee and running his route at the convenience store.
Nearby Lithia Springs High School and Sweetwater Elementary School were placed on lockdown while officials investigated, the news station reported.
After the shooting, the sheriff’s office released photos of multiple witnesses, hoping one of them could give them leads in the case.
“Members of the community that came forward were crucial in assisting investigators in the quick apprehension of Pouerie and thus making the community that much safer,” the sheriff’s office said in the Facebook post.
