A man died after a shooting Tuesday in a DeKalb County shopping plaza parking lot, police said.

The shooting happened at the intersection of Covington Highway and Phillips Road near a Citgo gas station. Crime scene tape was in place just outside a barber shop.

The victim was shot around 10:30 a.m. by another man he was arguing with, police said. The shooter left the scene.

“We don’t know if he took off in a vehicle or on foot,” DeKalb police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

“This is now a homicide investigation,” Robertson said later Tuesday.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
