Racial, profane and threatening graffiti was found Friday at Pebblebrook High School in Cobb County, a school district spokesman said.
“Extensive vandalism” was found at the Mableton school, John Stafford said in an emailed statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Staff and students arrived at Pebblebrook High School this morning to find extensive vandalism to the campus and exterior of the buildings,” the statement read.
“The graffiti included racial slurs, obscene language and threatening messages.”
Cobb school district police found “no credible threat” after investigating the situation, Stafford said. The investigation continues.
“No arrests have been made at this time,” Stafford said.
Students are in classes, Stafford said, and normal operations are in effect. The district’s maintenance department is on the scene to clean up the graffiti.
The incident comes at a tense time for race relations nationally and in metro Atlanta.
This week, a Cobb County police officer retired in the face of termination after he was recorded making a racial remark during a traffic stop.
