One of the roommates of a man found dead in a Gwinnett County apartment is a person of interest in the investigation, police said.

The victim was identified as 52-year-old Geremias Barrios Diaz, police spokesman J.D. Albright said Saturday in a news release.

And police said Heraclios Solis-Ortiz, 56, is a person of interest.

Another roommate found Diaz dead Friday in the apartment kitchen when he returned home, Albright said. Police responded to the call about 6:30 p.m. at the Villas Del Camino Apartments at 1355 Graves Road in Norcross.

There were signs of apparent blunt force trauma, police said Friday, and there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. However, police said the exact cause of Diaz’s death has not been determined.

Solis-Ortiz “may have been having an ongoing dispute with the victim,” Albright said. “At the time police arrived, all of Solis-Ortiz’s belongings had already been removed from the residence.”

There are no active warrants for Solis-Ortiz’s arrest. He is described as about 5-foot-7, muscular with black hair and green eyes.

He may still be in the area where the victim died, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 770-513-5300.
