A suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in downtown Atlanta.

Samuel Arnold, 26, of Atlanta, has been charged with murder after police said he shot Ezekiel McNair in the face Thursday near Alabama and Broad streets, which is just outside the Five Points MARTA station.

An officer who was patrolling the area heard gunshots about 3:20 p.m. and spotted Arnold running from the scene and McNair on the ground, according to police. The officer caught up with Arnold, who is being held in the Fulton County Jail.

Paramedics responded to the scene, but McNair, 36, of Atlanta, died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Homicide detectives are still working to determine what led to the shooting. Arnold was denied bond and remains in jail.
