An 18-year-old died after he was shot in the face at a DeKalb County apartment complex Wednesday night, police confirmed.

He was shot at the Oak Forest Apartments off Hatton Drive in Scottdale, DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News.

The man, identified by police as Rene Betancourt, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, and he died shortly after arriving at the hospital, Channel 2 reported.
