A man was found dead Monday morning in northeast Atlanta.

A man believed to be in his 30s was found dead after being shot at least once and left along railroad tracks Monday morning in northeast Atlanta.

Railroad employees arriving at work around 7:30 a.m. found the body on a dead-end road in the 1300 block of Plasters Avenue, Atlanta police Lt. Carven Tyus told Channel 2 Action News.

Tyus said it’s an access road that runs parallel to I-85 in an isolated area used mainly by railroad employees. Because of that, there are no surveillance cameras in the area.

Several shots were fired in the incident, police said.

“Homicide investigators are working to determine when the victim was shot and the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” police spokesman Donald Hannah said.

The man did not have any identification on him, Tyus said.

Police plan to search databases for missing persons and contact law enforcement agencies in nearby counties.
