A man accused of beating and strangling a Marietta woman and leaving her body in a car at an apartment complex was arrested in New Orleans, Cobb County police said.

The New Orleans Advocate reported Miguel Floyd, 25, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center Tuesday on an out-of-state warrant.

Floyd, 25, is accused of murder, aggravated assault and battery in the death of Ericka Monique Stewart, 36, according to the newspaper.

Stewart’s body was discovered about 7 a.m. May 28 at the Caswyck Trail Apartment Homes, which is in the 2600 block of Favor Road near Marietta, AJC.com previously reported. The woman’s body was in a maroon Nissan Altima parked outside the 2E building, according to Cobb County police.

Investigators said their focus now is identifying the victim and finding her killer.??

Stewart had bruising and swelling to her face and eyes, according to documents filed in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court on Wednesday.

The Advocate reported she also had injuries that were consistent with being strangled. It appeared she had been killed between 1:30 and 5:30 the same morning officers found her, according to the newspaper.

A warrant was obtained for Floyd’s arrest the following day, the Advocate reported.

AJC.com has reached out to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, including when Floyd will be extradited to Georgia. In a brief statement Thursday, Cobb police confirmed the arrest but offered no other details.
