A massive drug bust has led to the recovery of an award-winning show dog reported stolen out of Rockdale County, officials said.

Police found the dog while executing search warrants on locations on Godby Road in South Fulton and Joan of Arc Place in College Park, officials said.

South Fulton police opened an investigation into illegal drug activity months prior to the bust, the department said in a Facebook post Thursday.

“Utilizing various investigative techniques, these locations were identified as being involved in criminal activity,” the post said.

During the search, a “significant amount” of marijuana, cocaine and pills, along with guns and cash, was discovered, according to South Fulton spokesman Gary Leftwich. Police Chief Keith Meadows told Channel 2 Action News that 15 guns were seized in addition to a stolen vehicle.

Five people were arrested, and investigators hope that ballistics evidence from the scenes will lead to more arrests, Channel 2 reported.

“We think that the gang members that were involved were possibly involved in a number of crimes around the South Fulton area,” Meadows said.

He added that the department’s investigation got a major boost after several people posted on social media that the show dog was at the Godby Road location, the news station reported.

The dog and one other dog, French bulldogs named Crayola and Hero, were in a car that was stolen outside a Rockdale County Exxon gas station on Salem Road on Dec. 8, officials said.

Hero was found and returned to his family Dec. 15, according to a Facebook post by owner Julian Roldan. However, Crayola was held for two more weeks.

South Fulton police are planning to reunite Crayola with her owners, who live in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday. A family friend picked up Crayola on Thursday night.

“We are in tears and overwhelmed,” Roldan said on Facebook. “Just unbelievable she’s alive and coming home.”
