Two people are in jail after a 3-week-old child was taken to a northeast Georgia hospital with multiple broken bones.

Jarrett McCloud, 20, and Megan Richmond, 22, both of Winder, were arrested on charges of aggravated battery and first-degree child cruelty, Barrow County sheriff’s Capt. Cory Almond said Monday in a statement.

McCloud was also charged with reckless conduct.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators were called to Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Wednesday and found that “the infant was being abused and had received numerous broken bones along with other injuries.”

Almond did not disclose the baby’s condition or gender, the child’s relationship to the suspects or who took the baby to the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing, he said.
