Marietta police are searching for a man who allegedly ambushed a Loomis armored truck delivery driver and stole a bag of cash from him at a QuikTrip on Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery occurred shortly after noon on Powder Springs Road near Sandtown Road, Marietta police Officer Chuck McPhilamy said.

According to police, the driver was holding the bag of money when the suspect approached him from behind.

“The suspect reportedly knocked the driver to the ground, grabbed the bag of cash and fled the area on foot,” McPhilamy said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. The man also has a full beard and was last seen wearing a dark green T-shirt, khaki shorts and long dreadlocks.

Loomis Armored is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

Authorities released a photo of the man and are asking anyone with information to call Marietta police at 770-794-5372 or 911.
