Kevin Richard Harrison called 911 shortly after midnight Sunday and told a Barrow County dispatcher his wife had been accidentally shot.
But the shooting death of 29-year-old Heather Harrison was no accident, a Barrow sheriff’s spokesman said Monday.
Kevin Harrison, 36, was arrested Sunday in connection with his wife’s death after investigators collected evidence and interviewed the suspect and witnesses who knew the victim, Barrow sheriff’s Capt. Matt Guthas said in a statement.
“Based on the interviews, the evidence from the crime scene, and the statements of the suspect, it was clear this was no accidental shooting,” Guthas said.
When deputies found the victim at the couple’s home in the 760 block of Moss Side Drive in Bethlehem, she had a gunshot wound to the head, Guthas said. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and later pronounced dead.
The suspect and victim have a 2-year-old child together, and Heather Harrison also has a 9-year-old child.
Kevin Harrison was being held Monday in the Barrow County Detention Center. Bond had not been set late Monday morning.
He faces charges of aggravated assault, felony murder, murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
