An Atlanta police officer is suspended from duty after he was arrested in Roswell, authorities said.
Sgt. Kelvin Walls was taken into custody after a reported domestic incident, officials said. He is charged with simple battery (family violence), jail records show.
Walls was booked into the Fulton County jail Tuesday, where his bond has not been set.
In a statement, the Atlanta Police Department said Walls has been suspended from duty “with no police powers, pending an emergency hearing with Chief (Erika) Shields to determine his status while the criminal investigation is ongoing.”
