An Atlanta police officer was arrested in Roswell last month following an incident with his wife, authorities said.

Jeremiah Boyd was booked into the Fulton County Jail on June 19 on charges of aggravated assault and battery, online records show. He was released Wednesday on $16,000 bond, according to Roswell police.

According to court records obtained by Channel 2 Action News, Boyd is accused of squeezing his wife’s arm hard enough to leave marks, then trying to get her to recant the allegation.

An Atlanta police spokesman said Boyd was suspended and stripped of his police powers pending a hearing with Chief Erika Shields to determine his status with the department.
