A man was found dead of a gunshot wound in his car early Friday in northwest Atlanta.

Police found the man about 1:30 a.m. in a burgundy Chevy sedan on Elmwood Road, Atlanta police Capt. Ben McGee said. Drugs were inside in the car. Officials don’t know if the drugs are related to the deadly shooting.

“At this moment, it’s very early in the investigation, very preliminary,” McGee told Channel 2 Action News.

Authorities towed the Chevy for processing.

“Beyond the narcotics in the vehicle,” McGee said, “we currently don’t have a motive.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office removed the man’s body from the scene. His name has not been released.

The shooting remains under investigation.
