DeKalb County police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured another at a gas station.
The shooter was taken into custody without incident, police told Channel 2 Action News.
The incident happened when an altercation between two people escalated into a shooting about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a QuikTrip on Panola Road.
An officer was working an off-duty job at the store when he heard shots fired in the parking lot, Channel 2 reported.
The officer came outside and saw two people shot on the ground and the shooter, police said.
The person who died was shot in the head, Channel 2 reported.
The condition of the other injured person is unknown at this time.
DeKalb police Lt. Timothy Donahue said the person killed and the shooter knew each other.
“We don't know the extent of their relationship or why they have a problem, if any, with each other,” Donahue said. “We are still trying to investigate that.”
Names of the victims and shooter have not been released yet.
