A 911 call placed by Jordyn Jones days before police say she killed her college roommate shed more light on the bizarre case Tuesday. But it left even more questions about conflicting stories Jones told police before Alexis Crawford was killed.

On Oct. 26, Jordyn Jones called 911 to report her car had been stolen, according to a recording of the call released by the Atlanta Police Department. She didn’t mention that her Clark Atlanta University roommate had just been the victim of a sexual assault.

“My ex-boyfriend just stole my car,” Jones told the 911 operator. “He took my keys and (expletive) went.”

Jones, Barron Brantley — who Jones later said was her boyfriend — and Crawford had all been drinking earlier in the evening, a police report states. Jones told police she later found the other two in the bathroom together.

“I didn’t touch her, I didn’t rape her,” Brantley said, according to police.

Jones didn’t tell the operator that part when she called 911. But the next day, Crawford told investigators Brantley had touched her and kissed her and she had blacked out, according to an Atlanta police incident report. Her underwear had been cut off and left in the bathroom.

“Jones stated that the suspect is her boyfriend and she does let him use her vehicle from time to time,” the police report states.

On Oct. 30, Crawford talked to her family for the last time. Hours later, according to police, she was dead.

Jones and Brantley, both 21, are each charged with felony murder in the Oct. 31 death of Crawford, a Clark Atlanta senior. Crawford’s body was found Nov. 8 in a DeKalb County park, ending a week-long search for her.

During a court hearing last week, Atlanta Police Department Detective Mike Young testified that Brantley said he had choked Crawford after she and Jones got into a fight.

“He admitted to choking Ms. Crawford,” Young said during a hearing in Fulton County Magistrate Court. “While he was choking Ms. Crawford, Ms. Jones put a plastic bag over her head.”

Evidence also indicated Brantley had sex with Crawford, Young testified.

Both Brantley and Jones are being held without bond at the Fulton County jail.
