Gwinnett County police have arrested another Snellville man in connection with the shooting death of a 40-year-old homeless restaurant worker.

Tye Roderick Stewart, 25, was arrested early Monday and faces charges of murder and armed robbery, police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said. On Sunday, police arrested Tremaine Washington, 18, on charges of murder and aggravated assault. Both are in the Gwinnett jail.

Police think Washington was the trigger man, and Stewart helped move the body and cover up the incident, Channel 2 Action News reported. In a court hearing Tuesday, Stewart told the judge that he had no money in the bank, a job paying $200 a week, and a baby on the way, Channel 2 reported.

Police were called Saturday to the Marco’s Pizza at 3300 Centerville Highway when Robert Purcell’s co-workers noticed that his car, which normally was parked behind the restaurant, was missing. Some of his belongings were found in the parking lot.

Purcell’s body was found in his car later that day on the U.S. 78 westbound exit ramp to Hugh Howell Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain. His gunshot wound did not appear to be self-inflicted.

Purcell lived out of the vehicle he was found in, and was known to sleep in his vehicle on nights before he worked.
